Friedrich Merz's Christian Democrats won the election but will need to form a coalition. Due to the country's firewall, it will not join with the AfD, which leaves Olaf Scholz's SPD and other minority parties.

AfD leader Alice Weidel had support from both Elon Musk and JD Vance in the lead up to the election.
