Punjab’s mosques are now a trust shared by the public and scholars. It has been agreed to establish more effective mosque management committees consisting of respected local figures across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a spiritually inspiring initiative for the restoration of mosques in Punjab.

The state salutes those serving religion. Orders have been issued to ensure immediate payment of stipends to prayer leaders (imams).

The registration form for Punjab’s mosque imams is in the final stages of development.

Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special counters are being established in every tehsil office to facilitate imams.

At these assistant commissioner offices, special counters will process imam registration forms.

Imams will be able to submit stipend application forms both manually and digitally.

The process of stipend payments to imams will begin within a few weeks.

For the first time in history, complete digital mapping of religious institutions in Punjab has been completed. Records of mosques and seminaries are now stored in a transparent digital database.

Data for 20,863 religious seminaries across Punjab has been fully compiled.

Geo-tagging and numbering of 56,000 mosques in the province have also been completed.

In Lahore, under the supervision of the Auqaf Department, a new era of unity, harmony, and interfaith brotherhood has begun in the mosques.

Across the province, 284 mosques are supervised by the Auqaf Department, while 47 others have independent imams. (Briefing)
