A Hindu man, Deepu Das, was lynched and burned by a mob over unsubstantiated blasphemy charges, while a youth leader of the National Citizens Party, Motalev Sikder, was shot and is in critical condition. Reporting from the scene, Mishra notes, 'one could realize the sense of fear.'
