Описание к видео Paper Birch - How To Identify It! || Nerdy About Nature Tree Guide

One of the most common trees in the mixed forest stands of Cascadia is the Paper Birch, a gorgeous tree that is easy to distinguish from others because of its peeling, white to coppery-grey, brown to black bark! This bark peels off in long strips, exposing a warm salmony undertone to the inner bark, and it's waterproof properties gave it many uses by indigenous folks all around Turtle Island (North America) for housing, bowls, canoes, etc. Additionally, some of the oldest 'chewing gum' has been found in archaeological sites up to 9,000 years old, and guess what? It's actually the pitch or resin from paper birch trees, how wild is that?!
