Right hand exercise to build up picado speed.
Notice that I am playing each note staccato. The metronome here is set to 160 bpm but you can set it to any speed you feel comfortable with. First one note per 2 beats, then one note per beat, then triplets and finally 16ths. Try to do short bursts of speed and slowly expand those bursts into longer runs. Do this very slowly, though. Do not rush the process. Simply focus on effective speed bursts within short intervals.
