The monkey and the crocodile became friends. Every day, the crocodile would visit the monkey, and they shared sweet fruits, laughter, and conversations. But one day, the crocodile’s wife grew greedy. She thought, “If the fruits are so sweet, the monkey’s heart must be even sweeter.” She pretended to be sick and demanded the monkey’s heart.

The crocodile, torn between friendship and his wife’s demand, decided to trick the monkey. He invited him across the river on his back. In the middle of the river, he revealed the truth. But the clever monkey stayed calm and used his wit. He told the crocodile, “Oh, I left my heart back on the tree. Let’s go back so I can fetch it.” The foolish crocodile believed him. As soon as they reached the bank, the monkey jumped onto the tree and said, “No one can live without their heart! You tried to betray me. You are not a true friend.”

The crocodile lowered his head in shame and slipped back into the river.
