Hello folks. Well Ashton Iowa has completed it's Freedom Rock along with it's very unique way to display it. It is actually the first and only Freedom Rock to have a fully covered cement protection enclosure while paying attention to detail and using the unique pentagon shape and also being suspended above the ground.
It is surrounded by walls that display local military folks who gave their all so we may be free today. The entire enclosure design, including the Pentagon shaped walkway and wall, lighting, bird protection, seating, and flagpoles was all tirelessly built and designed by 1 man. He is Andy Gacke, who is also a veteran and a former Marine, and was assisted by his father in law, Robert Eidema.
His attention to detail and final display is beautiful and hopefully this video will provide a unique view of his vision for this display. Semper Fi Andy.

The Freedom Rock Tour, created by the artist of The Freedom Rock; Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II, aims to boost tourism and spread the message of thanking our Veterans, while providing a unique to their area Freedom Rock for all 99 counties in the great state of Iowa.
Mr. Sorensen will tour the state for the next few summers completing the murals and providing an instant tourist attraction.
His goal is to be unique and tell area specific stories on each rock which typically weigh approximately 60 Tons.
He says he will not include every era/branch/race/gender etc on each rock but rather, the goal is to represent all of that across the entire tour with those specific stories.
He wants you to think of each rock as a piece of a puzzle. It's not all encompassing , until you step back and look at the entire project.
If you don't see something represented on a certain rock, that means it probably will be, or already is represented on another rock in Iowa.
He wants us to please understand that he, as the artist, has control of the content/design of each rock, but relies on each county for some of the ideas to inspire his said design.
