The Ilovlya River, whose source is near the village of Pervomayskoye, 30 km south of the city of Krasnoarmeysk, flows through picturesque steppes and forests, reaching 358 kilometers in length. The clear waters of the Ilovlya give this river a special atmosphere, and near the village of Stefanidovka (Solodchinskoye rural settlement, Olkhovsky district, Volgograd region),
its vast expanses of water reveal themselves in their pristine beauty.

It was here, in August 2025, that this unique underwater film was taken, revealing a world invisible to most. The underwater world of the Ilovlya is striking in its dynamism and diversity. The footage features a bodyaga, a colony of microscopic algae that forms dense gray or green sponges on rocks and the river bottom. These structures not only provide shelter for numerous small organisms but also play an important role in purifying the body of water. The bodyaga lends a distinctive character to the underwater footage, creating unique textures and bubbling forms that become the center of attention as the camera approaches.

Besides the bodyaga, other amazing creatures are found underwater in the Ilovlya. Young fish fry glide smoothly among the underwater plants, hiding in algae and driftwood. Debris, submerged branches, and driftwood create underwater labyrinths that harbor life full of secrets and wonders.

Shooting near the village of Stefanidovka offers a unique insight into how the river breathes, how its waters flow, and how vibrant its underwater world is.
