Описание к видео Save Money tying Flies - Beginner guide - McFly Angler Fly Tying Tutorials

We are continuing the beginner fly tying series with what materials you need to start tying. Materials are some of the most expensive and confusing parts of starting your fly tying journey. Many times, patterns call for extremely expensive materials that could end up costing you more than the tools you need to buy to start. Many fly tying kits that come with a handful of materials are also very expensive, and come with materials you might never use. So I always recommend the brand new tier to pick 1-2 easy patterns they want to tie, and get the materials for those patterns. Tie up a bunch of them, then when they feel confident in their tying abilities, move onto more complex patterns that might cost more in materials.

That is what this whole video is about, what materials you actually need to start tying, and a I list a handful of flies in each category that I recommend you to start with. First a zebra midge for if you want to tie nymphs, then a wooly bugger if you want to start on streamers, a foam beetle for dry flies, and a closer minnow for if you want to tie saltwater flies. If you start with just 1-2 of these patterns, the initial cost of materials will not break your bank, and it will get you started on some fairly easy patterns that can help you learn the basics.

I also discuss a bunch of other materials as well that you might want to get further down the road, and what their uses are. So this is in my opinion, one of the most important fly tying videos Ive ever made, and a must watch for anyone new to tying flies. Because getting the right materials, and starting your fly tying career with the right flies, can make the difference from just spending a couple coffees worth, to taking out a mortgage just to pay for the materials. Also it keeps the beginner from feeling overwhelmed with very difficult patterns, that might cause them to quit tying all together. Instead I believe this video will help the brand new tier to get better at tying, but simply giving them a good start.

I will not be linking to every material I discussed in this video. Check back for next weeks video to get a list of all the materials I use in each of the patterns I suggested. There are too many materials discussed today to fit in the allotted space they give here on the videos description section.
