This video shows the installation of SecureCRT to configure your remote devices using the SSH or Telnet protocols on Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish).

To install SecureCRT:

Step 1: If you have not previously installed Ubuntu with VMware, please refer to the video or article below.

Step 2: After installing #Ubuntu, it is best to use SecureCRT to connect and configure devices such as the Cisco Router in your network projects.

Step 3: Before installing SecureCRT, download it for Linux to your computer from the link below.

Step 4: To build SecureCRT, open Terminal.

➦ cd Desktop

Step 5: You need to install SecureCRT in /usr/share/.

Step 6: To extract the Scrt-8.5.1.tar.gz file that you downloaded to your computer to /usr/share/, execute the following command in Terminal.

➦ sudo tar -xvzf scrt-8.5.1.1764.ubuntu18-64.tar.gz -C /usr/share/

Step 7: After installing SecureCRT on the Linux system, run the following commands to create a desktop shortcut.

➦ cp /usr/share/scrt-8.5.1/SecureCRT.desktop ~/Desktop/

Step 8: To edit the SecureCRT.desktop file, run the command "nano SecureCRT.desktop" in Terminal.

➦ nano SecureCRT.desktop

Step 9: Change the location of Exec and Icon in the content of the SecureCRT.desktop file as follows.

➦ Exec: /usr/share/scrt-8.5.1/SecureCRT
➦ Icon: /usr/share/scrt-8.5.1/securecrt_64.png

Step 10: Run the following command in Terminal to make the SecureCRT desktop shortcut executable.

➦ sudo chmod +x SecureCRT.desktop

Step 11: Run the following command to create the Start menu shortcut for #SecureCRT.

➦ sudo cp ~/Desktop/SecureCRT.desktop /usr/share/applications/
