Artistic Meditations on Scripture by Artist and Author Julie R. Elroy. In Part Seven of "Mama’s Prayer Closet" Painting Series, I am continuing the journey of preparing for my upcoming painting called, “Mama’s Prayer Closet.” This painting will be included in my upcoming book that you will find on Amazon or your local bookstore. I introduce my drawing to show my plans of composition, painting light and dark, and creating depth and interest to the main focal point of the painting.
As I build my painting with several layers of paint, I am reminded of the Bible verses of Matthew 7:24-27. This is a parable that Jesus taught about the wise man building on the rock and the foolish man building on the sand. The wise man’s houses stood firm in the storm and flood. The foolish man’s house had the foundation washed away and the house came down with a crash. The wise man is like us when we listen to the words of Jesus and put it to practice. We need to study the Bible and the Words of Jesus so we can grow in our faith. Jesus is our rock and foundation. When we learn of Jesus, we learn how God wants us to live. Living as Jesus has taught us is pleasing to God. This is how we build on the foundation of Jesus. Our house of faith will withstand the storms of life. The oak tree growing out of the Bible is faith growing strong as well.
