In this video I discuss how rotating a polyhedra to different perspectives in 2-d drawings uses various geometric templates. There is a specific sequence to the templates used to capture a full rotation of a form in 24 drawings. The main forms used in this exploration are the octahedron and icosahedron. The octahedron starts in a vertex orientation and rotates towards its edge perspective. The icosahedron in the same rotation moves through edge, vertex, face and a few other unique perspectives. It's amazing to see how the circle templates based on 2-, 3-, and 5- fold symmetry work together to create this full progression. Learning to draw these templates and understanding how the forms are found in each pattern while they progress through this sequence is ripe with opportunities of discovery.
