128 students from Hemet Elementary School (HUSD) received a free vision screening, vision test, and pair of glasses from the non-profit organization, Vision To Learn . Vision To Learn was started to provide screening and testing for under-served communities in Los Angeles County and has begun to branch out into Riverside County and will provide over 27,000 over the next two years.

In partnership to support the Literacy By 5th Grade Initiative set by Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin Gomez, RCOE and Hemet Unified saw the importance in making sure students could see the board to read from anywhere in the classroom. "If the student can't see, they can't read. And when they can't read, they can't learn," said Joseph Romero, the principal of Hemet Elementary.

RCOE offers its sincerest gratitude to Vision To Learn, Rotary, and Hemet Unified School District for their partnership in supporting the Literacy by 5th Grade Initiative.
