On the last install video we showed you the replacement for our factory plastic bumper from 4 Wheel Parts. But that was only the first many parts for the front end. With the addition of the winch mount, you can tell where things are going with this. We plan on going out and testing the capabilities of our Big Bend. While we are planning to have fun but try not to get stuck, we are planning to be able to get ourselves out if we do.

In this video, with Jill’s help, we go through the process of just what it takes to install the winch mount. Some things you might want to know about it before holding a 100+ lbs winch and mount above someone’s head during the install. This setup will not allow the use of the front mounted camera which seems to be an issue with most winch set ups. When the winch is mounted lower in the bumper it interferes with the crash avoidance and (if equipped) adaptive cruise control.

The winch mount itself wasn’t difficult to install. The accessibility of the hardware is the most difficult process. The bolts are closer to the body of the Bronco on top and the nuts under it are semi blocked by the brace (tube) that runs through the front part of the bumper. While it would be possible to install all the components at once then install the whole bumper, mount, and winch set up prior to install. This would be extremely heavy for Jill and me to lift on our own. So we are coming up with solutions to the problem we find during the installation process. In later videos we will show the next steps to finishing our trail ready bumper and all the components we have to finish off the front end.
