Keven here with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a closer look at and showing you how to install the Go Power Lithium RV battery here in our 2021 Jayco Precept class A motor home. So if you're planning on going out and boondocking and you want to be able to get the most out of your system and you want something that's gonna be reliable and that you can drain down fully, then going over to a lithium setup versus that AGM setup where you can really only get about 50% of your battery out before you need to recharge it and really kind of limits how much capacity you really have. Switching over to that lithium setup, like what we did today is going to be key. Now with our specific setup, we have a battery tray so that kind of confines us down to just two batteries. So if this person really was wanting to go out and boondock for an extended stay, they would probably need to upgrade the amount of solar panels they have to really combat against that power consumption that they'd have. With this tray in though, you can see that we do have some more room in here.

So you could potentially build a custom setup in here or just get a larger generator tray that would house all of those batteries and then you could upgrade this just a bit more so you could really get the maximum amount of power out of that so that you could stay longer out on those boondocking trips. Lithium batteries are going to come with a built-in battery management system, which is listed as BMS in your instructions. And what that does is help protect the batteries in the event of some kind of power surge, whether that's an overcurrent, undercurrent or any other kind of issue that we might run into so that way our batteries are staying protected and we're not having to replace those if there was an issue with something else in our electrical system. Now along with that, these batteries, the management system is going to help stop it if the battery gets too low. So typically with a lithium battery, you can drain those down all the way down to about 5% and then that's when that battery management system's gonna kick in and say, alright, we need to shut down and protect the battery, we'll save that last little bit of reserve just to hold on and make sure that the batteries can still function.

And at that point, if you did fully drain it down, what you would need to do is typically just kind of jumpstart it. You would throw a current through and then that would wake the system back up and then you'd be able to fully charge it. A lot of battery chargers out on the market will typically have some sort of jumpstart for lithium batteries for that specific purpose just to kinda wake that system back up and have your batteries function again. So overall, lithium is going to give you a much more stable power source. It is going to allow you to fully drain it down.

It's going to also have a much faster charging rate on it so that way you're not stuck waiting around a whole lot longer. And the discharge rate when it's in storage is a lot more minimal compared to an AGM battery where you might lose a few percentage with this, and an AGM battery, you could potentially show up after just a couple of weeks and find, now my battery's so drained, maybe I'm down to like nine volts and doing that can actually end up damaging the battery. So typically what we try to do is get everybody to add in some sort of solar panels to just have that charge while you're in storage to keep your batteries topped off and then that maintenance kind of charge rate so that way everything stays protected and it's functioning for the full life cycle there so that way you're not missing out on what you purchased. You wanna give you a little bit of a side by side comparison. So we have our original AGM battery and then we have our lithium battery here.

And obviously you can see lithium battery is a little bit wider. So this is coming in at right at 12 and 7/8", so we'll just say 13 by about 6-3/4". And our AGM batteries coming in right at 10-1/8", right at seven, so it's a little bit longer, but the big difference here is going to be that weight. So I've got a scale right here just to show you. So for our AGM battery, we're looking at 67.75 pounds, so 67-3/4 pounds, take that off, throw on our lithium battery and
