SHORT SUMMARY:
American Gangster is a crime drama based on the true story of Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas, who built a heroin empire in the late 1960s and early 1970s by cutting out traditional middlemen and smuggling drugs directly from Southeast Asia. As Lucas rises in power and wealth, incorruptible detective Richie Roberts begins investigating the explosive growth of high-purity heroin on the streets. Their parallel journeys eventually collide, exposing corruption, organized crime, and the hidden machinery behind the drug trade.
