💥 Is the Jefferson Curl safe for low back issues?

❌ Many people ask me about the Jefferson Curl and some think it’s safe to try no matter what, and others think it’s the devil. Well we need to remember that there is no inherently “good” or “bad” exercise, it’s the one your body is not prepared for and we need more context for your specific situation! Here is my general opinion on this….

🔑 The key here is to understand that if you do not have any low back issues, and you can slowly increase load over time with the Jefferson Curl, it is possible to build up resilience in a flexed position and avoid injury. However, if someone does have an acute disc/sciatica issue and is advised to do this it could be a disaster as most disc/sciatica issues are “flexion intolerant” meaning this motion could make it worse, especially with high loads! So it all comes down to if the individuals is struggling with an injury, and how they implement it. But at the end of the day it really just depends on the person and the context. We have many other options that we know do a fantastic job that we don’t have to analyze so much and that is usually a better place to start initially! Now let’s fix your low back!
