This video was filmed around lunchtime. The video starts with Momoka in the bush. Komomo passes by the tree trunk. Haoko comes and sits near the tree trunk. Momoko appears when Haoko moves away. Momoko and Toto wait for lunch break near the tree trunk. As Momoko moves away from the tree trunk, Toto goes there. Momoko sits in the open space. Komomo appears and sits in front of Momoko, then goes away. The family moves to Exhibit 2. Toto is the last to enter the next exhibit. The family enjoys eating carrots, Italian ryegrass, and Chinese cabbages. After young gorillas go inside their indoor room, Momoko and Toto remain outdoors. Haoko eats Chinese cabbage at the entrance of the indoor room. Momoka and Komomo go in and out of their room. Momoka watches Haoko, who is blocking the entrance, and sneaks into the room. Toto watches over them from the scale on the artificial cave.
About Western Lowland Gorilla

Habitat: The most widespread gorilla subspecies and can be found across more than 700,000 km² of central and West Africa.
Lifespan: 35 yrs in the wild (up to 60 yrs in captivity)
IUCN Red List : Critically Endangered
It is the smallest of the four gorilla subspecies, which also include the Cross River gorillas, Grauer’s gorillas, and mountain gorillas. It has shorter black-brown hair, longer arms, and a more prominent ridge along their brow. The adult males, called silverbacks, have silvery-grey hair on their backs and thighs. Their heads are large and pointed, with a sagittal crest forming the back of the top of the head. Its population has been decreasing due to poaching and disease. The estimated population in 2013 was almost 362,000 individuals (IUCNredlist.org). Fewer than 150,000 western lowland gorillas remain in the wild (gorillas.org).

POB: Unknown (Spain / Africa?)
• In 1987 she and Monta were transferred to Japan via Spain.
• In March 1990, she and Monta were transferred to Chiba Zoo.
• In July 1997 she was transferred to Ueno Zoo as a part of the BL program.
• In July 2002, she and Momotaro came back to Chiba Zoo when Momotaro was 2 yrs old.
• In Dec 2008 she and Momotaro were transferred to Ueno Zoo as a part of the BL program.
Offspring: Momotaro*, Komomo, Momoka, Riki and Sumomo
*Momotaro's father is Biju. He passed away in 1999 from suffocation.
