Pakistan has been re-elected to the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for the 2026–2028 term. According to the Foreign Office, the election took place during the 30th Session of the Conference held in The Hague from 24 to 28 November. The Chemical Weapons Convention, with 193 member states, is considered the world's most successful disarmament treaty, having eliminated an entire class of chemical weapons. The OPCW Executive Council plays a key policy-making role, ensuring effective implementation and compliance with the convention. Pakistan has been an active member since ratifying the CWC in 1997 and has consistently contributed constructively to the organisation’s objectives. Its re-election reflects the international community’s confidence in Pakistan’s positive and responsible role.
