NOTE: This is a re-upload of a previous video. The old video has serious audio issues. Thanks to PCFanatics for pointing this out.

We're starting a multi video long play of Dungeon & Dragons (D&D) Warrior of The Eternal Sun, for the Sega Genesis, made by Westwood Associates ( which then becomes Westwood Studios, best known for Command and Conquer, but also: Kyrandia and Eye of The Beholder fame).

I like this game because it's still old-school RPG, unforgiving, but not that impossible. Battles are turn based on overhead maps, whereas some dungeons are "3D" grid maze with first-person "real-time" combat. And the music is done by one of my favorite composers: Frank Klepacki. It has that cheesy (read: awesome) RPG console feel, melodic, a bit of pop synth.

Onward to the game:
Unlike Japanese RPGs, with preset character attributes, Western RPGs, such as Dungeon and Dragons require you to "Create your character, and that means rolling the dice until you get the stats you want. Higher stats make better characters.

Also unlike Japanese RPGs, your stats do not change. They are permanent. When you gain levels, your HP increases, and your ability to hit enemies or cast magic improve. But not your base statistics. So, we'll be investing quite a bit of time, rolling our dice until the stats become acceptable.

Day 1

Create Characters and Form the Party

Will - The Fighter/Tank
Skylar - The Cleric - Tank with healing spells
Jovanka - The Elf - blade warrior, mage, and secret door spotter all in one.
Naomi - The Mage - a poor fighter, but offensive magic

Starting out in the castle. Time to buy armors, and initial weapons. But first, let's search through the nook and cranny of the castle for hidden treasures! Any weapon, armors, scrolls, and potions. Especially: we're looking +1 weapons, colored blue.
They add extra damage and makes it easier to hit enemies with.

Hidden areas checklist:
The guard towers: Gauntlet of Ogre Power
castle crypt
The magic shop's secret chambers - wand of lightning + scrolls
The inn's cellars - potions and stuff.
Temple cellar, off the northwest exterior - Healing Staff (!)

The latter part of the video, we'll investigate the beast camp, in the north-west. And then we'll go visit the secret north waterfall cave in the inner valley for some grinding.
