𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞💙: James Farm Ecological Preserve
This week in our Local Love feature, agent and marketing specialist Belle Meade takes us along on a little bit of a different Local Love trip- outside to the trails and the bay, at James Farm in Ocean View!
🌿James Farm is such an important resource for our community here at the Delaware beaches. Preserving nature in our small but beautiful part of the world is critical, and extremely important. Without the ongoing and expanding projects like what you see at James Farm, our beautiful ecosystems that thrive here along the ocean and bay wetlands wouldn’t be as easy to maintain, and many would most likely be lost over time!
🌾James Farm was originally developed in 1998, and until the last handful of years, its facilities weren’t keeping up with the growing population of Sussex County. That’s why in 2014, a Master Plan to expand the preserve was finalized and is currently in the works, today! It’s the hope of the DE Center for the Inland Bays that the expansion of James Farm will not only continue to put environment preservation at its forefront, but will also enhance education, outreach programs, volunteering opportunities, environmental research, restoration and so much more! You can read additional, more in-depth details of the James Farm Master Plan, at the link here: https://bit.ly/3pVhmRD
🌱Additionally, James Farm offers so much beauty, and gives locals and visitors alike a place to escape and enjoy countless aspects of wild land habitats. Along the 3 miles of trails at the preserve, some of the different terrains and vegetations you’ll find are that of salty flats, bayberry, loblolly pines, sweetgum, and of course, a beach along the southern shore of the Indian River Bay - perfect for relaxing, or, taking a walk with your dog! (Pets are allowed at James Farm all 365 days of the year, as long as they’re kept on a leash.😊)
