Kemono Friends: Proof Smiling Should Be Okay analyzes the entire Kemono Friends series in-depth from its conception until the current day. Chapter 5 is a deep-dive into the development of Kemono Friends 2 and the problems with the resulting anime, arguably leading to the fall of the series and its darkest hour.

Note regarding the anime's behind-the-scenes drama: This series is meant to be as all-inclusive as possible, and that necessitates drawing a line between the relevant and the irrelevant. The drama surrounding the development of Kemono Friends 2 is extensive, often unrelated to the outcome of the already unpopular anime, and many of the accusations are false or misleading. As the goal is to analyze the Kemono Friends franchise itself, it would be irresponsible to spend a considerable amount of time discussing drama that did not affect the majority of fans and that had--at most--a minimal effect on the anime. To analyze drama to the point of exhaustion would eventually lead us to discussing the personal life of a friend of a friend of a person who had some input in the series, and at that point, we wouldn’t even be talking about Kemono Friends anymore. For that reason, let's stick to the facts and keep the discussion as positive and grounded as possible. There's plenty to discuss regarding the anime itself, and it's important to remember Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
