It has been a stressful few weeks and you decided you needed a little escape to recharge. So you decided to head up into the mountains and spend some time relaxing and reading in the family cabin. You were supposed to arrive yesterday. You even moved your flight to get in before a big snowstorm. Unfortunately, delay after delay pushed your flight back to this morning. You just barely landed before the first snow started to hit the ground. Now you get to travel up to your cabin while it is snowing. For a normal cabin this would be a hassle at worst. For you it is going to be an adventure. Because you can only take a rental car so far before you need to either hike or snowmobile up to the cabin. You choose snowmobile because you have luggage, hiking a mile in a blizzard is dangerous, and most importantly….its fun. After an hour-long shuttle ride from the airport to the “Snowport” and you are finally loaded up and ready to go. The snow is coming down hard so you should go straight to the cabin….even if you secretly want to go exploring. As you take off into the blizzard the snow races past you. The sun has just set but there is still light in the sky. The snow around you has a twilight glow. It only takes you about 10 minutes before you see your cabin. The snowmobile is yours for the weekend, so you park it next to the cabin in a shed you built last summer for this very reason. You take your bags full of clothes, food and supplies and hurry inside. The first thing you do before even taking off your snow-soaked coat is getting the fire going. After just a minute there is a warm amber glow filling the room with warmth. Before long, it is even feeling nice and toasty in there. You kick off your boots and sit by the fire with some fresh hot cocoa. The wind is fiercely howling outside, but the crackle from the fire almost drowns it all out. You think how happy you are to have finally made it as you sink into the bench by the fire. Once you settle in the adrenaline from your journey fades quickly. You feel yourself settling in and could even fall asleep here by the fire. As you lie there relaxing you think about all the fun you will have tomorrow snowmobiling around the area. It is going to be a real adventure, but for now all you must do is relax and enjoy this perfect ambience.
