Описание к видео Remembrance Day Tribute | World War One Artifact

104 years ago today marks the signing of the armistice between the Allied Forces and Germany. Today we remember all the men and women who answered the call to arms. Today we say thanks to a generation who saw more than most of us will see in a lifetime and to those who are still fighting for our country today.

Everyone has someone they honour on Remembrance Day and one of the many that I honour is my Great Grandfather Malcolm Ernest Amos who served in the 25th Nova Scotia Battalion and fought for Hill 70 and last Hundred Days of the War. I wrote my University Thesis all based around the premises of this World War One Artifact - the Canadian Expeditionary Forces Issued Shaving Mirror. This mirror is the whole reason he lived to see the end of the war.

Captain M.E. Amos like thousands of other Canadians fought for our freedom and that is why we say thank you. He served from 1914 to 1918 and was shot on November 7, 1918 in Elouges, Belgium just outside of the final destination for his Battalion, the 25th Battalion, which was Mons, Belgium.

Despite his injury he was able to live another 15 years, have a family and create a legacy of his own back in Canada in Lower Derby, New Brunswick where his family home still stands.

Today, on remembrance day and truly every day many of us often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. So today we say thank you and simply remember.

Lest we forget
