Rodney finds out that one of his best friend's Carson had, had a hand in Norena's death the mother of his child and never told him. Rodney accidently finds out by over hearing Carson telling Jennifer that he feels nothing but guilt everytime he see's Rodney and Alexis (the childs name Alexis-Grace).
Carson was forced to perform many experiments while being held captive by Michael. One of these experiments was performed on Norena after giving birth to McKay's child, the end result being Norena's death. Michael found a pregnant Norena among the Terranian's and found out that the child she carried belonged to no other than Dr.Rodney McKay. Michael saw opportunity and seized it.
After Carson returned to Atlantis he told Rodney about the child Norena had. Rodney completely unaware of Norena's pregnancy. The team finds the child and return to Atlantis, when eventually Rodney over hears Carson talking to Jennifer. Rodney being relentless finally gets to the truth. Rodney shocked, angry, and feeling betrayed leaves Atlantis and goes back to earth with daughter intow. Now back on and trying to adjust to life there, not all is going as smoothly as he'd like. Feeling like Alexis should know her family (meaning Jeannie, Caleb, and Madison), Rodney has to get into many ah argument with his sister over the way he left things back in Atlantis. Now that he works with the SGC he finds himself hanging out with Agent Malcolm Barrett, when he has really good hockey ticket's. Even though he realizes it's just another way for Malcolm to keep tabs on his(Rodney) and Sam's friendship.
Sam finds herself quite satisfied with the work she does with Rodney. It's finally nice for her to have someone that gets her or her language. Sam was on Atlantis to do a Military Review on John, when all was breaking loose with Rodney and everyone. Sam tried to help but Rodney still left. Sam understands why he left, and likes the man Rodney has become over the years, also since becomming a father. Sam and Rodney's friendship has definately changed.
Now that Sam's father Jacob has showed up from another reality. Deciding to stay because he has nothing to go back to, gives his daughter some advice. "U CAN HAVE IT ALL."
