How I spent Christmas Day alone cheerfully

Last Christmas, for various reasons, I ended up spending Christmas Day alone. I usually like to go home and spend it with my family, so this year was quite different. I thought I might feel lonely, but I experienced the opposite.

First, on Christmas Eve, one of my friends invited me to an early Christmas celebration. We went to our other friend's family's house and had an enjoyable night.

Then on Christmas Day I was able to see my family by video call and we opened presents together like usual. I made myself a really delicious lunch (steak, scalloped potatoes, and a pumpkin, beetroot, and rocket salad) and enjoyed some sweet, sweet wine.
I do wonder whether I would have felt lonely if I didn't have my cat with me. She always makes me smile no matter how I feel, so I feel so grateful to have her by my side.

A couple of days after Christmas some friends and I went to a digital art gallery which was a lot of fun. I feel so happy to be surrounded by such wonderful people during this special time of year.
