VENICE, CA — Wednesday, August 6, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation took place along Venice Boulevard on Wednesday morning, as part of the City of Los Angeles’ continued effort to improve sanitation, public safety, and accessibility in one of its most visited coastal corridors.

The sweep involved personnel from the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Harbors, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, and the Los Angeles Police Department. Enforcement teams focused on removing debris and addressing unauthorized lodging in violation of Los Angeles Municipal Code. Advance "No Parking – Tow Away" notices had been posted prior to the operation. Items left unattended were collected and removed by sanitation workers in accordance with city protocol.

During the sweep, two vehicles presented complications for removal. One non-operational RV was successfully towed away with the help of a Jeep before official impound occurred. The second, a Dodge Ram pickup with an attached camper, was found inoperable at the curb. Outreach workers from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) offered their assistance by attempting to jumpstart the vehicle using their own car and jumper cables. Despite repeated attempts, the engine failed to start.

The camper's owner, suspecting the issue was due to an empty gas tank, left on foot with a container to retrieve fuel from a gas station approximately half a mile away. Before a tow could be arranged, it was discovered that another individual remained inside the camper and refused to exit. Due to regulations prohibiting the towing of occupied vehicles, enforcement officers paused further action. The multi-agency team instead focused on cleaning the surrounding sidewalk area before moving on.

LAHSA outreach teams were seen distributing water, food, clothing, and hygiene kits to individuals impacted by the operation. No arrests or citations were reported, and LAPD officers remained on site to ensure the sweep proceeded peacefully.

Two representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office were also present to observe and assist with logistical coordination. Officials say the effort reflects the city’s dual approach of targeted enforcement and compassionate outreach, with an emphasis on connecting unhoused individuals to services, shelter, and long-term care.
