The U.S. Secret Service has a new acting director. Julia Pierson resigned on Wednesday after several high-profile security lapses that could have put the president and his family in danger. Retired special agent Joseph Clancy takes over on an interim basis as Secret Service director.

Hundreds of people turned out in Washington D.C. and New York’s Times Square to show solidarity with Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement. Many people were toting umbrellas, which have become a symbol of the mass protests.

Sabrina Allen, a 17-year-old girl who went missing 12 years ago, has been reunited with her father. Her non-custodial mother took her from Texas to Mexico on a weekend visit when she was 5. The two were living isolated in a small Mexican apartment when U.S. and Mexican authorities found her.
