Bethel has swapped the meat-and-potatoes of Christ-centered truth for the wormy gruel of NAR theatrics, rainbow-tinged compromise, and “Your Best Life Now” greeting-card theology. Think Hophni and Phinehas with better stage lighting—today they would be called, Bill and Kris. As in 1 Samuel 3, when the Word is rare, corruption thrives, darkness trends, and people wander. The cure? Paul nails it: “Preach the Word.” Not mood lighting, fog machines, or prophetic improv—just the text, studied and proclaimed. Faithful preaching is the rain that softens hearts and the feast that strengthens saints. Sappy choruses won’t get you to glory, but Christ-centered exposition will—because in such pulpits, you’re not in famine, you’re already enjoying an appetizer of the eternal banquet.
