Little Bear Peak via the Hourglass Gully, Sangre de Cristo Range, Colorado

Описание к видео Little Bear Peak via the Hourglass Gully, Sangre de Cristo Range, Colorado

We climbed Little Bear Peak via the standard class 4 route on 9/7/2024. We hiked 5 miles, 3300’ up the extremely rough Lake Como Road the day before to set up camp near the lake. The next morning we set out to climb Little Bear Peak around 6:30am. We timed our climb almost perfectly as we were able to avoid other climbers for the most part. The loose gully was a messy climb but not technically challenging. On the other hand the Hourglass Gully lived up to its reputation as the trickiest climbing section on any CO 14er standard routes, with a combination of steep and smooth surface and strong rockfall potential. After carefully making our way up the gully we were greeted with fantastic views of the Sangre de Cristo range on the summit of Little Bear. Special thanks to Bin and JT for their pictures and footages. Total stats from Lake Como: 4 miles and 2300’ elevation gain
