Flight Over 'Noctis Labyrinthus' Mars Deep Valleys

Описание к видео Flight Over 'Noctis Labyrinthus' Mars Deep Valleys

Nestled between Mars's ''Grand Canyon'' (Valles Marineris) and the tallest volcanoes in the Solar System (the Tharsis region) is Noctis Labyrinthus – a vast system of deep valleys spanning approximately 1190 km. Mars Express's High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) offers a visual flight over the eastern part of Noctis Labyrinthus, showcasing subsided 'graben' regions caused by nearby volcanism. The canyons and valleys intersect, with some reaching up to 30 km in width and 6 km in depth. Gigantic landslides and dune fields also adorn the landscape. Mars Express has been orbiting Mars since 2003, studying its geology, atmosphere, and more.
