SmartPaker Ashlee and her mare Trixie had a special connection from day one. From fox hunting to eventing, they did it all and they got to grow up together. In her late teens Trixie developed melanomas, some on her body and others on her face. They only continued to grow as she got older.
Grey horses are particularly susceptible, with approximately 80% over the age of 15 developing melanomas. Seeing her beloved horse, her confidant, begin to degrade, Ashlee had to make one of the hardest choices a horse owner can make, a decision made of equal parts love and heartbreak. Since then, Ashlee has devoted herself to deeply researching supplements, formulas, and ultimately coming to SmartPak's SmartGrey Defense formula as a nod to grey horses and her "Trixie girl".
