My brother and I hiked the JMT in the summer of 2019. Backpacking over 14 days means you need to be particular about what you are going to carry.
When preparing for the trail I did my research into equipment that was lightweight, affordable, and highly recommended. I was able to get most of my equipment second hand online or at REI garage sales.

Here is my gear list for the John Muir Trail, 2019:
