Frank Beard is memorable without a lengthy beard or the limelight. He has been the unseen force behind ZZ Top's distinctive rhythm for more than 50 years. Frank, who was born in a rural Texas hamlet, preferred rhythm to stardom. Frank remained behind the drums, unwavering, focused, and exact, while Gibbons and Hill became image icons.
