In this fireside chat, Professor John Turner interviews Russell Napier, one of the world's leading experts on global financial markets, about his experiences in Asia as well as Asia's future in the global economy.

Russell is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Cambridge and has recently published his second book The Asian Financial Crisis 1995-98. This book is not just a guide for investors navigating financial markets, but also an explanation of how this crisis created the foundations of an age of debt that has changed the modern world. Russell’s first book, Anatomy Of A Bear: Lessons From Wall Street’s Four Great Bottoms, published in 2005, was named as an investment read of the year in the Financial Times and was described as a ‘cult classic’ by the same newspaper.

Russell is interviewed by John Turner, Long Run Institute director, Professor at Queen’s Management School, and author of ‘Boom and Bust: A Global History of Financial Bubbles’. In their conversation, they discuss Russell’s new book, the benefit of having a long run perspective, the rise of China as a superpower, and Russell’s love of financial history.
