Pain in lower left abdomen - Low Stomach Pain, Most Common Causes

Most Pain in the lower left abdomen is benign, buy it can also be caused by very serious medical condition.
We will discuss most common causes of lower left abdomen pain. Medically is accepted, to crossed abdominal surface to imaginary four parts. Each part is called quadrant. And this part of the body is called lower left quadrant.
Most common causes of lower left abdominal pain are: gas in the intestines and constipation, menstrual pain. At these cases, pain moderate, not very strong.
Among elderly common cause of lower left abdominal pain is diverticulitis.
The first and most common cause of left abdominal pain is constipation. Constipation occurs when a person finds it hard to pass a stool or have less than regular bowel movements.
When stool moves slowly or cannot be eliminated from the rectum, it causes pain in the colon located in the lower-left abdomen.
The common causes of constipation are dehydration, poor diet, and lack of exercise.
Treatment of constipation is increased intake of water and fiber (either dietary or as supplements).

Soluble fiber supplements such as psyllium are generally considered first-line treatment for chronic constipation. Regular exercise can help improve chronic constipation.

it can cause pain in the lower left part of the abdomen.
Sign of kidney stone is intermittent pain that radiates from the flank to the groin or to the inner thigh.
This pain, comes like waves lasting around 30 minutes, ureter tries to expel stone.
Kidney stone pain is often described as one of the strongest pain sensations known. It is called Renal colic. It can be accompanied by by urinary urgency, restlessness, hematuria, sweating, nausea, and vomiting.

3. Gas in the intestines And bloating can cause lower part pain of the abdomen.

Probiotics (live yogurt, kefir, etc.) are reputed to reduce flatulence when used to restore balance to the normal intestinal flora.
4. HERNIA.
hernia happens when an bowel pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall.
Treatment depends on severity. Surgery is recommended for some types of hernias to prevent complications such as obstruction of the bowel or strangulation of the tissue.

5. Diverticulitis.
It is more common among elderly.
Diverticulitis is a inflammation of abnormal pouches—diverticula; which can develop in the wall of the large intestine. Symptoms typically include lower abdominal pain of sudden onset, but the onset may also occur over a few days. There may also be nausea; and diarrhea or constipation.
Treatment.
Probiotics can have some improvements. Also high fiber diet can be advised.
In complicated cases antibiotics can be prescribed.
Indications for surgery are abscess or fistula formation; and intestinal rupture with peritonitis.
Other less common causes of lower left abdominal pain include:
Sigmoid colon volvulus, bowel obstruction, Toxic megacolon. Spleen infarction, complicated urinary tract infection, colitis, fecal impaction, and Epiploic Appendagitis; gynaecologic disorders, cancer obstruction; ; leaking abdominal aortic aneurysm.
