Описание к видео How One Mechanic's "Worthless" Truck Design Became The Red Ball Express's Lifeline

*How One Mechanic's "Worthless" Truck Design Became The Red Ball Express's Lifeline*

August 1944. Allied armies stormed across France, but their rapid advance created a crippling crisis: no supplies. Fuel, ammo, food—everything was stuck hundreds of miles behind the front.

The solution wasn't a new weapon, but an unassuming 2½-ton truck: the GMC CCKW. Designed by General Motors, this "worthless" workhorse became the heart of the legendary Red Ball Express, pumping lifeblood to the front and enabling the Allied victory.

This is the untold story of the truck that saved the Allied advance, and the incredible, often-forgotten, men who drove it.

🎖️ THE ACTION:
• Dates: August 25 - November 16, 1944 (83 days)
• Vehicles: Over 6,000 GMC CCKW trucks
• Tonnage: Averaged 12,500 tons of supplies moved daily
• Result: Enabled the Allied advance across France, saving the offensive
*"We knew we were important. If we didn't get the gas and ammo up there, the guys at the front couldn't fight."* —James Rookard, 514th Quartermaster Regiment
