Описание к видео Why CrossFit is Bad Broscience

Do you know why CrossFit is bad bro-science?

I can tell you why it is bad science, and bad advice, but not bro-science.

I've seen people crazy fit doing CrossFit, but I'm not sure about the science and safety of what they do.

CrossFit likes to push people to do handstand pushups. While it puts a ton of weight on the arms and shapes them quickly, you risk hurting your head or neck.

You risk that when you're lifting weights.

Yeah, but when you have a bar of weights, you are supposed to have a spotter. With a hand stand pushup, you're your own spotter and can't do anything when you crash face first into the floor.

You'll come down fast enough if you don't have the arm strength to come down slowly.

The danger is that they push you to do it before you are ready for the high stress moves. And they push you to your body's limits.

Then don't do the exercises to the point of exhaustion.

CrossFit likes to push people past the point of exhaustion. In fact, they make fun of it with Uncle Rhabdo.

That's a clown they had on a magazine cover.

Uncle Rhabdo refers to working out to the point your muscles explode. As in muscle cells rupture, pouring poisons into your body, damaging your kidneys to the point of needing dialysis.

Does that ever really happen?

Yes, to the point that CrossFit warns trainers of the danger. Before CrossFit, it was diagnosed a few dozen times a year, while now CrossFit jokes about it.

If you work muscles that hard, you're sure to get ripped.

The muscles expand like red hot dogs until the swelling dies down. Then you get wrangled, permanently weak muscles.

That I didn't know.

If the CrossFit guys joke about destroying your muscles to the point of dialysis, can you trust their advice on physical fitness?
