Chinese Steam Centres - Anshan

Описание к видео Chinese Steam Centres - Anshan

Visits to China in the early days of the 1980s and early 1990s tended to visit places close to big cities where CITS (the government travel agent that foreigners were obliged to travel with) had an office and that was fine when there was still lots of steam on the mainline. Anshan Steel Works was an early magnet with pre-WWII Japanese steam and electrics in use along with more modern industrial locos. Slag tipping was a feature and if you were lucky you would see molten slag tipped on a train hauled by an SY. Anshan also had a single tram line. For some reason, most visits were in winter to see steam in the snow.
