Описание к видео How Dads can support their Partner during Labor and Birth – Birth Education for Dads

How can you as a birth partner support your partner during labor and birth? In this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant and TCM Therapist, and Mathias Ritter, Researcher and Science Geek, give you the answer!
Actually, today, it’s only gonna be Mathias because this video is supposed to be birth education for dads from a guy for guys.
First, Mathias explains in detail why (normally) there is plenty of time between the moment when labor starts and the moment when your partner delivers your baby. In particular, he explains why you normally have more than enough time to take your partner to the hospital, particularly, if your partner gives birth to her first baby.
Next, he discusses the stages of labor & how long each stage normally lasts approximately. Moreover, he also explains why you should not take your partner to the hospital too early & how to avoid being sent home upon arrival at the hospital.
In the next step, Mathias then explains how dads can support their partner during labor and birth. In particular, he discusses the main goal for birth partners during labor – to support the baby descend in the pelvis and birth canal – and why there are three factors that determine how smooth that process is gonna be: baby’s position, your partner’s labor and birth position and her posture.
He then explains how birth partners can help their baby find a good position for labor, by helping the mother find a good labor and birth position and adopt a good posture.
Finally, Mathias explains several comfort measures that allow you to support your partner during labor by helping her manage pain and he shows you how to apply these comfort measures during labor.
