Their representatives spent the day in Switzerland meeting with Olympic officials, and those from Chicago emerged from their closed-door session rather pleased.
SOT Pat Ryan, Chairman Chicago 2016
"I think the team did very well, lots of good questions, very healthy dialogue which we were very pleased about so....we would've been worried if there weren't a lot of questions but there were a lot of questions, so it was quite good."
Of course, so too were those from Tokyo.
SOT Dr Ichiro Kono, Chairman Tokyo 2016
"I am very much happy to have completed our presentation and question and answer session, but we are now ready to move to the next, to the last stretch."
As with everything these days the focus was on money and which cities were in the best shape.
[Notes:chicago file]
Chicago is the only one of the four not to have full government financial backing.
However the White House impressed the I-O-C with a tape reiterating it's support for the games.
SOT Kevan Gosper, Australia IOC Member:
"She came up and gave the video and gave a very good endorsement of White House interest and concern and no I just thought as I said it was very professional, very complete."
A final decision will be announced this October.
