Environmental Sustainability: Issues in the Philippine Agriculture | Ryan Bestre | TEDxDLSU

Mr. Bestre talked about the issues currently plaguing the Agricultural industry of the country, stating how the industry is not really being given importance by the government, as well as Filipinos, given that the sector doesn’t really receive much support from the said stakeholders, in terms of supplies and purchases. He also discussed about how we resort to intensive agriculture due to a growing population, which forces us to use pesticides and other chemical additives to boost the production of agricultural products. He ended his segment by suggesting ways on how we can support the industry while lessening the environmental degradations that result from bad agricultural practices. Bestre is an Ecological campaigner for #IAmHampasLupa, a campaign that helps promote ecological agriculture and mindful consuption. He is a Climate Reality Leader for the Climate Reality Project, a non-profit organization founded by Al Gore that focuses on cilimate education. He is a recipient of the 2017 Miguel R. Magalang Individual Climate Leadership Memorial award for various climate action initiatives.
