Filming ECHOES OF THE INVISIBLE In Tuva

Making Steve Elkins' feature documentary ECHOES OF THE INVISIBLE involved working with musicians, shamans, hunters, and instrument builders in remote villages near the borders of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. In this previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage from Aldyn-Bulak (Tuva), Aldar Tamdyn of Chirgilchin fame performs a spontaneous duet with his son Anchy after serving our crew a meal of sheep's head soup and boiled blood. Aldar is an international legend who builds musical instruments and opulent yurts, carves totems for shamans, and hunts bears. He also made a record with Lou Reed. Filmed in March 2014.
