Hotel New Akao" in Atami, which regrettably closed its doors in November 2021, has been reconstructed by a hotel management company under the umbrella of a foreign investment fund. This "Hotel New Akao" was a landmark hotel in Atami, but had closed due to aging facilities and deteriorating business performance caused by the coronavirus pandemic, etc. When it opened in 1973, it attracted many tourists on honeymoon trips and group tours. The hotel consists of two buildings, the Horizon Wing and the Ocean Wing. The hotel has a large bath with a view, a private bath with a view, a huge restaurant where you can enjoy meals while viewing the spectacular view, two swimming pools, an outdoor bath with a spectacular view, a game corner, and other facilities that can be enjoyed just inside the hotel. All of the 350 guest rooms have ocean views. The horizon spreads out before you, and you can enjoy the beautiful view of the morning sun rising from the azure sea. The theater restaurant "Main Dining Nishiki" is a luxurious and dynamic space that will overwhelm you the moment you step into it. Miki Seika is a confectionery store in Atami that has been popular with many people since its establishment in 1949. “Neko no shita” (Cat's Tongue) is one of Atami's representative confections, a langue de chat made from sugar, wheat, butter, and eggs. It is shaped like a cat's tongue and is very delicious with a crispy texture and moderately sweet flavor. Fruit cakes with a touch of liquor are also a favorite of mine. The butter cookies are not too sweet and have a rich, buttery flavor. The marron cake roll and cream puff have a nostalgic taste.
