Two days in hot Seoul - 1998

My first trip overseas was to Japan in 1998 when I was 30.

Whilst visiting my brother and his family in Fukuoka we went on a 2 day trip to Seoul... Very soon after the crash of 97 and there had been rioting in the streets the year before. I was amazed by the uniforms of all kinds on the streets, and still some protests... I had my first tailor made suit made for me there (Yen 20k), and everything was very cheap... I remember buying the CD Soulero by Kenny Burrell for 13 won.

I bet the streets of Seoul look pretty different today. I wrote by best ever funk song and an enduring Modernists track about this visit... The punningly funky, 'Hot Seoul'... it was hot.
