Australian gold miner St Barbara has agreed to sell its Leonora assets in Western Australia to Genesis Minerals for A$600 million. St Barbara has terminated the acquisition of Genesis. Raleigh Finlayson’s Genesis Minerals will buy the assets, including its troubled Gwalia gold mine, as part of a revised deal. An earlier proposal which would have seen St Barbara and Genesis merge to create a major new player in WA was halted after troubles at Gwalia made the companies reconsider the deal. Genesis Minerals is now raising $450 million to put towards the purchase.
