We see very little of Aemond's childhood, so it’s hard to know his suffering overall. The show did give us a scene of Aemond and Alicent with her reassuring him that he would get a dragon one day.Who knows how long Aegon instigated the bullying but it affects Aemond in a way he developed an insecurity that leads his obsession on dragons.

One very brief moment which I think is very important, is the look that Aemond and Jace exchanged over the brazier at the wake after Laena's funeral.

They didn't say anything but to me at least it Aemond was trying to say "Hey, I'm sorry for your loss too." Despite what they've done to him, Aemond was trying to actually acknowledge his grief and he still don't harbor that kind of anger that he now have.

Despite all Alicent's flaws, she is a Mother.Look at who is the only person who advocates for Aemond afterwards. His father doesn’t. His siblings don’t. His grandfather, aunts, uncles, knights of the realm, all are quiet. Only his mother advocates for him, who defies her husband and king, grabs a dagger, and attempts to collect on that debt.Right here, in the moments after he has been permanently disfigured, only one person is in his corner. That person is Alicent.

"People won’t like this but what if Otto didn’t poison Alicent’s mind Rhae could have gotten the throne Aemond would have DEFINITELY gotten on the small council or held a place Of high importance and Helena would have married Jace we all know he would have been kind and sweet to her and treated her lovingly like a gentleman and Aegon could have gone off like Laenor and left them all alone I mean can you even picture someone trying to threaten the crown with Aemond and Daemon on her side and the best part when know Aemond and Jace would BOTH take the prophecy seriously...

...the realm would have actually been in good hands with competent people not trying to push their own agenda but not being pushovers either and If members of the small council were trying to manipulate Aemond and Daemon would check them, the Wall would be totally fortified Dragons would still be alive and Aemond would feel like he has a place and that he is needed not a second son stepping in because the first can’t and wouldn’t have to put on any bravado to be accepted either or trying to prove himself all the time with an added bonus of Helaena being happy and loved and who knows maybe Aemond would get married to a nice non-ambitious woman who is just happy with him or he could just be happy protecting his family and the realm..."

The what ifs really got into me but GRRM writes Fire and Blood as a tragedy unfortunately.

The poisoning of their young minds took all the chances that the realm could have if only they learn to live in peace and love.

Also, the only time we see Aemond's genuine happiness is when he rides Vhagar up in the sky.It made me sad actually when I'm editing this..maybe its the full moon i guess 💚 😭
