My journey, how did I get here?
Over 30 years ago I started taking notice of music cards, and when everyone else was collecting sports cards and other non-sports cards, I was enamored with this very specialized segment of the non-sports card market. This all started before the internet was a thing. Computers only started to become usable for the average person with the release of Windows 95. eBay and Facebook weren’t even a thing yet.
Most of my collecting was done at local card shows, flea markets and garage sales, with a few very small lucky finds along the way. I enjoyed this hobby pretty much on a solo basis, since none of my collector friends ever recognized music cards as “a thing.” Nonetheless, the fire was always in my belly.
Years later as Craigslist and eBay came into play, I was able to gain a bit more access to illusive finds both nationally and internationally. This opened up a whole new way of collecting that was not available to me prior, and I dove in.
For over 30 years this growing collection has been hibernating in boxes with very little interaction from me. Always a buyer, never a seller. The collection grew.
Things changed for me a little in 2021 / 2022, when in an effort to interact more with my collection and collecting in general, I decided to start bringing some of my music card collection out of hibernation and start buying, selling and trading at local and not so local shows. I can’t tell you how many times I have watched someone stare at my showcases full of music cards and either say to themselves, to me or to the person they are with, “I didn’t even know this was a thing!”
I’m excited to bring you all along as I step up my collecting and learn how to navigate the world of YouTube at the same time. Thank you for being here with me for my Collecting Music Cards video series, I truly hope you get something out of it and I hope it inspires you to start a collection of your own.
I have no idea what the future holds for my collecting hobby, I only know what has already happened. Sit back and enjoy Collecting Music Cards and all the in between!
