An avalanche of leaked documents has exposed the world of offshore tax havens.
The Paradise Papers show some of the biggest names in politics and business with assets sheltered overseas in places like the Cayman Islands.
Such leaks in the past have led to hundreds of political figures being driven out of office.
Our Lee Jeong-yeon tells us more. A trove of leaked documents has left some of the biggest names in the world feeling a tad uncomfortable.
The project called 'Paradise Papers,' exposes sheltered wealth,.. hidden in offshore accounts to lessen tax.
The material comes from some 13-million files, the majority of which come from offshore law firm Appleby.
They were obtained by German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung and shared by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
Some 230 Korean individuals and companies are on the list, ranging from mid-sized firms listed on the KOSDAQ to giant conglomerates like Korea Gas Corporation, Hyundai Corporation, and Hyosung Group.
To this, Hyundai explained that all of its overseas investment activity was revealed transparently at the time through press releases.
Hyosung also explained that nothing was done that could be considered outside the bounds of the law.
Other big names so far on the list of more than 130-million include:
The Queen of England... her private estate invested some ten million pounds offshore in the Cayman Islands.
U.S. President Donald Trump's cabinet members, donors, and advisors are shown to have extensive offshore dealings in a firm that's linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin's son-in-law.
The key moneyman of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is also linked to offshore schemes in a tax-avoiding trust.
Some other household names include multinational corporations, including Nike and Apple.
The most recent leak applies pressure on world leaders, including Donald Trump, Justin Trudeau, and Theresa May, who have all pledged to crack down on tax evasion schemes.
