Ottawa, as Canada's capital, is the ideal location for seeing some of the country's greatest sights, celebrations, and cuisine.The region was first home to Indigenous People who lived, met and traded here. In fact, the city's name is derived from the Algonquin term "Odawa," which means "traders."
Their stories, as well as those of the Europeans who arrived in the 1600s, can be found all across the region. You can explore famous Parliament Hill, see several of the country's main institutions, and enjoy an amazing paddle, cruise, or skate on the Rideau Canal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, all within a short walk of your accommodation.Lively communities on both the Ontario and Quebec sides of the Ottawa River entice you with excellent craft beer, fresh local cuisine, and unique shopping experiences around every corner.
